Klitschko Lays His Eyes on Haye's WBA Title

The British heavyweight fighter David Haye currently holds the WBA title. And Klitschko Brothers have their eyes on his title. If Vitali, following his victory in Gelsenkirchen, Germany against Albert Sosnowski, the London-based Polish fighter, get to fight and beats David Haye, the Klitschko will be controlling every major havyweight title.

Haye agreed to fight Wladamir in 2009 and later agreed to fight Vitali but withdrew from both fights for different reasons.

According to an article in Mirror.co.uk, Vitali Klitschko reportedly said: "I promise David Haye the fight with me will be much shorter than it would be with my brother. Wladimir will beat him badly over 12 rounds. I will give him a much easier proposal. I will knock him out in two, three, maximum four rounds."

Wladamir seems to be holding a grudge against David Haye and things are more personal than simply anger following a withdrawn fight between the two. Vitali was quoted as;

"I want to fight David Haye very badly. Wladimir wants to fight against him also. I want to fight David Haye because he has the WBA world title. But Wladimir wants to fight David Haye because it's personal."

The upcoming fight does not seem easy for David Haye if he agrees to fight Vitali. Hopefully, we will get to see how this turns out before the end of 2010.

Vitali Klitschko KO's Sosnowski in 10th Round in Germany

Saturday night Vitali Klitschko retained his WBC belt with a 10th round KO win over Albert Sosnowski, the London-based Polish fighter Albert Sosnowski in Gelsenkirchen.

The referee, Jay Nady, stepped in to stop the fight after when Klitschko knocked down Sosnowski with 1 more minute to go in the 10th round.

Sosnowski reported said after the fight that he is grateful for this fight and he hopes to have another shot at the title in future.

Sosnowski would be the first Pole to hold the title if he was able to win this fight.

The next opponent for Vitali should be clear for anyone who has listened to the ramblings of Cyprus based British fighter David Haye.

Manny Pacquiao Awarded the Fighter of the Decade Award

Manny Pacquiao left for New York Tuesday afternoon to receive the “Fighter of the Decade Award” from BWAA - the Boxing Writers Association of America.

The BWAA award ceremony will be held on Friday at the Roosevelt Hotel on Madison Avenue in NYC. The famous Roosevelt Hotel is located a block away from Grand Central on 45th and Madison.

Manny Pacquiao is accompanied by a group of people including his wife Jinky and her sister Janette, his adviser Mike Koncz and their children Jimwell and Princess.

Pacquiao is reported to be taking some time off and later head to the Philippines before June 14th.

For those of you who do not know, Pacquiao is an elected congressman in the province of Sarangani, a province of the Philippines located in the SOCCSKSARGEN region in Mindanao. Pacquiao was elected recently during the May 10 elections.

Mayweather ends up with one of his most impressive wins against Shane Mosley. Catching a big overhand right in the 2nd, Mayweather was badly hurt but he simply smiled and moved on.

Judges Dave Moretti and Adalaide Byrd gave it a 119-109. Robert Hoyle had the match at 118-110.

Following David Haye defeat, John Ruiz quits the sport

John Ruiz, the former heavy weight champion, has announced that he is quitting the sport following his defeat against the British boxer David Haye. David Haye, born in 1980, is the curent WBA champion.

Haye has faced his only professional defeat against Carl Thompson.

Ruiz, a 38-years old American boxer of Peurto Rican decent, had an 18 years long professional career. His record is 44 wins (with 30KOs), 9 losses, 1 draw and 1 no contest.

Ruiz, througout his carrer, has defeated 3 world champions: Evander Holyfield, Hasim Rahman and Tony Tucker.

Mayweather Demands More Blood and Urine Tests to Clean the Sport

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is a warrior and a proud world champion. Undefeated in his entire boxing career, he has every right to say he is one of the best.

Mayweather is a true boxer who is often criticized for not being an entertainer. Mayweather, the party in eagerly awaited fights today by fans, retired two years ago and made a comeback after a short period to face Mexico's Juan Manuel Marquez.

Now, Mayweather is secheduled to face Shane Mosley within two weeks at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Mayweather is now demanding mandatory urine and blood tests for fighters in his struggle to clean the sport. Mayweather is quoted as "I am the face of boxing and I am here to clean it up" in a statement he gave to fightnews.com.

We will see how this fight will turns out for the undefeated fighter and how his demands for more blood and urine tests will have an effect on the sport.

Hopkins and Ray Jones Jr. Square Off after 17 years

Hopkinks take home the medal for what it is a 17-year wait revenge against Roy Jones Jr although he came down to his knees in the dressing room. The duo, that might be considered the greatest fighters of their own time have ended their careers in a Las Vegas hospital but it was Hopkins that had the right to leave with a victory.

During the match. both fighters appeared to be shadows of their former selves. According to Hopkins, "It was sweet revenge." winning the fight that was long waited. Hopkins won with an unanimous decision.
Hopkins, who admitted to seeing spots after the 6th round during this tough fight would like to fight David Haye next. Hopkins shocked doctors that wanted to take him to the hospital on a strecher by recovering from the collpase and dressing himself after the punishment. Jones also was sent to the hospital for an evaluation for the cut near his eye.

Jones had beaten Hopkins by a clear decision in 1993 and this was clearly a payback after 17 years of waiting and preperation. The fight at 1993 took place at a time when both fighters were at the peak of their careers. This was a fight of warriors that have been in this sport for over 2 decades.

Larry Holmes Dissapointed With the State of Boxing Today

Larry Holmes, former WBC title holder and a challenger against Ali back in 1980, is dissapointed with the current state of boxing.

Larry Holmes started his career as a sparring partner to Ali but he made his break in 1978 when he upset Shavers and went on to earn a title shot against Norton. The title match was awarded to Holmes 2 to 1 although the match was even accordign to the judges after 14 rounds. So, Holmes was one of the real deals of boxing back in his time.

Holmes is primarily upset that America is incapable of producing a heavy weight champion and he thinks this is because all the fighters today are in the sport just for the money.

Holmes, also believes that the average fan is tired of paying intensive amounts o money to watch matches while they can watch ultimate fighting for almost at no cost.

Holmes is looking out for the next great fighter/warrior to come out and make the sport popular again to the masses.

Joe Calzaghe Admits to Taking Cocaine

Joe Calzaghe, boxing legend and one of the stars in BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, has publicly apoligised for using cocaine.

Calzaghe who was chosen BBC's 2007 Sports personality of the year has been living the good life since he quit fighting 2 years ago. The former boxer has admitted to occasional use of cocaine and blames the changes in his life since he quit the ring.

Calzaghe, according to friends, have too much spare time in his hands since he stopped training. All the time he used to dedicate to training is now spare time for him to fill.

Calzaghe retired back in 2008 after winning all his 46 professional fights.

Klitschko Vs Sosnowski in Veltins Arena, Germany May 29th 2010

Warsaw, Poland - Vitali Klitschko, the WBC heavyweight champion is geting ready for his fight with challenger Albert Sosnowski planned to be held at the 60,000 seat Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
The duo held a press conference in Warsaw on March 30th, 2010. Vitali Klitschko is currently (39-2) with 37 KO's. Sosnowski is (45-2) with 27 KO's in his career so far.
